The Kinderland Sports Fiesta 2023 was held on 7 October 2023 at the Singapore Institute of Management. This edition of the sports day was the first following a three-year hiatus brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s event saw enthusiastic participation, with over 200 children and 400 parents in attendance. Also at the event was the Guest of Honour Mr. Simon Lim, Group Director and Outreach from Singapore’s Health Promotion Board (HPB).

In a speech delivered by Dr. Carol Loy, Kinderland Director of Curriculum, she stated, “Today’s festivities are not just about who wins first place. Indeed, our Sports Day is an important moment to foster values such as perseverance – never giving up in the face of adversity, dedication and teamwork — values that are cherished at Kinderland.”

A significant highlight was the performance by the Marching Band from Kinderland Academy @ Yio Chu Kang. This was paired with the Colour Guard performance by children from Kinderland Preschool @ Marine Parade. Kinderland’s Marching Band is the first and only preschool marching band in Southeast Asia. We were also honoured to be supported by JACPA Singapore, Japan’s largest physical education provider for preschoolers, in the event’s success.

Making its debut, the Colour Guard performance from Kinderland Preschool @ Marine Parade showcased our children’s coordinated movements and marched to music, emphasizing their rhythm and musicality

Bringing together parents and children, there was a telematch segment which teamed up parents with their children in a variety of games including ‘three-legged race’ and ‘loggers’, thus putting emphasis on the importance of parental involvement in their children’s educational and physical development.

The inaugural Sports Fiesta took place in 2008 and has since been the annual spotlight of Kinderland’s KinderFit programme, which is available to all our preschoolers. The programme is designed to nurture an appreciation for regular exercise, sports, cardio-fitness and healthy eating habits. It also lays the foundation for inculcating crucial life skills, such as concentration, resilience, discipline, and teamwork.
