We can all agree that otters are adorable. With thick fur, engaging personalities and a love for playfulness, the fuzzy creatures are absolute sweethearts. Otters are a common sighting in various parts of Singapore and constantly move to find safe havens for the entire family.

This year, Kinderland preschoolers gladly joined hands with the Singapore Zoological Gardens in the “I Love Otters” project to learn more about helping their furry friends.

This programme is conducted as part of the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)’s Start Small Dream Big initiative, to encourage young children to use their own resources and creativity to give back to society.

This educational opportunity not only helps to promote awareness about Otters. The learnings further inspired the children to play an active role in preserving nature’s heritage. The children were able to develop an understanding on the importance of the environment’s ecosystem and that everyone has a role in ensuring mother earth remains sustainable.

“I Love Otters” also featured a fundraising element facilitated through the Little Entrepreneurs Programme running across all Kinderland centres. Through the generous support of our parents and children, Kinderland raised a total of S$10,000 from sale of coupons during the event. Nett proceeds will go towards Singapore Zoological Gardens to help in conservation efforts of Singapore’s endangered native wildlife.
