After 15 years of operation on 587 Upper Serangoon Road, the Crestar Building, leased from Singapore Land Authority (SLA), will be returned to the government for a purposeful endeavour. The old Serangoon ground was home to many infants and preschoolers from Kinderland Preschool and ELFA Preschool, and adults attending training in KLC International Institute (KLC II) and HSK Centre (Crestar).
Reported in The Straits Times, the Serangoon site which is located opposite Nex shopping mall, will be for the next Singapore’s biggest polyclinic. The polyclinic shall have a kidney dialysis centre and is expected to have other facilities and amenities such as a daycare facility, parks and malls over the next few years. Crestar is glad that the land will be redesigned for intended community use to benefit residents of Serangoon.
Kinderland and ELFA have officially relocated to Hougang and operations on Serangoon has ceased since March 2021, next to Kovan MRT Station. Both Kinderland and ELFA saw a smooth transition of their children and teachers to the new premise, adjusting and adapting well to the new environment. Kinderland will continue to serve quality infant and preschool music-infused education programmes to preschoolers. ELFA continues to cater strong Chinese-focused bilingual education and build a love for the language through a culturally rich learning environment in the early learners.
KLC II continues to deliver its WSQ certification courses and continuous professional development (CPD) programmes for adult learners through its virtual and physical campuses – Yio Chu Kang, Ang Mo Kio and Jurong East. KLC’s offerings range from foundational training, through diploma and degree programmes, to continuing professional development courses. Today, KLC offers SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)-funded, WSQ-approved courses in the areas of Business and Digital Transformation for working adults and small and medium-sized enterprises.
HSK Center (Crestar) found a new home at Regional Language Centre of Choice (RELC) building at Orchard to continue to promote and administer the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Test and Youth Chinese Test (YCT) in Singapore. Apart from the tests, HSK Centre (Crestar) also conducts HSK teacher training courses, administers scholarships, and facilitates exchange programmes with leading universities and business organisations in China for Chinese language teachers and students.
