Fairy tales come alive in NurtureStars Concert 2018

Well-loved characters from children’s favourite fairy tales and folklore came to live when some 200 NurtureStars’ Kindergarten 1 and 2 students showcased their musical and dance talent in a memorable concert on 14 December 2018 to mark the “passing out” of those ready for primary schooling.

The concert with the theme ‘An Adventure from a Land Far, Far Away’ was held at the NTUC Auditorium. It was attended by children from Kindergarten classes, as well as supportive parents and guardians.

Favourite stories, such as The Three Little Pigs, The Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, and Show White & the Seven Dwarfs, were given a modern twist in a variety of dance and musical presentations.

The magical worlds of Goldilocks & the Three Bears and Alice in Wonderland also came to live in a Chinese Speech & Drama presentation to showcase the children’s mastery of their spoken Mandarin.

There were also calisthenic and gymnastic displays to highlight how far the children had progressed in their physical and mental development.

In his welcome message for the evening, LTC (Ret) Ho Lye-Sum, Chairman, NurtureStars Joint Management Committee, said the concert performance reflected the resilience, courage and determination, which are hallmarks of our NurtureStars graduates.

“As part of their holistic and enriching Active Learning journey, the children at NurtureStars have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of intellectual, social, psyho-emotional and physical development activities that are designed to help them achieve Stronger Bodies, Sharper Minds”, he said.

Mr Ho also shared that four of the NurtureStars preschools had already received the SPARK certification awarded by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), a quality recognition under the Singapore Preschool Accreditation Framework. The remaining two preschools will embark on the SPARK journey in 2019.

NurtureStars is pleased to present the graduation concert every year to give every child an opportunity to express what they have learned in their early years journey.
