Crestar Learning Centre (CLC) and Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) formalised their partnership through a collaboration agreement signed at the headquarters of Crestar Education Group on 24 January 2025. With this, CLC was designated the first official examination centre for Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Children’s Performance in Singapore.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Wang Weiliang, Director of the Enrichment Division of Crestar Education Group, and Mr. Ding Hao, Project Director of the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s overseas examination.

At the same time, Mr. Sam Suen, Head of Chinese & Drama at Crestar Learning Centre, had been appointed as the first overseas official examiner in South East Asia for the Shanghai Theatre Academy Children’s Performance Examinations.

Founded in 1945, Shanghai Theatre Academy is a renowned performing arts institution in China, offering comprehensive education in theatre, film, and television. It has nurtured numerous acclaimed artists and remains a cornerstone of China’s cultural heritage.

The Shanghai Theatre Academy Children’s Performance Examinations offers from elementary, intermediate to advanced levels. It provides aspiring young actors aged 4 to 18 with the proficiency to meet international standards and received certification from the distinguished Academy.

“Every year, over 300 budding young artists in Singapore are nurtured through our Creative Chinese Drama programme,” shares Mr. Wang Weiliang, Director of Crestar Education Group. “We are heartened to share that this partnership further strengthens our programme, helping to develop the drama skills and artistic talents of these young individuals.”

Crestar Learning Centre offers an array of enrichment courses, with its particularly distinctive Creative Chinese Drama programme. The performance classes utilise engaging drama activities to enhance children’s Chinese language proficiency while fostering creativity and imagination, effectively moving beyond traditional language learning methods.
