Dr. Chen Shi, Vice Principal of KLCII Chinese Programmes, delivered an insightful speech at the China (Guangxi)-ASEAN International Symposium on the reform and development of preschool teacher education in Nanning on December 2024. In her address, Dr. Chen emphasized the critical role of high-quality teacher training and embrace Artificial intelligence (AI) to meet the evolving needs of young learners.
Dr. Chen Shi also discussed the International Chinese Early Childhood Teacher Training Programme, a collaborative initiative between KLC International Institute in Singapore and Chinese Testing International in China. The program was created to address the increasing demand for high-quality Chinese language education in the ASEAN region. Her presentation sparked meaningful discussions on innovative strategies to enhance preschool teacher education, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped to support the developmental and the language needs of children in today’s rapidly changing world.
Organised by Nanning Normal University (NNU), the event was attended by more than 300 educators, creating a vibrant atmosphere of knowledge exchange. Speakers from Malaysia and Thailand took the stage to share their insights on current as well as new trends, policies, and prospects in the early childhood (EC) education sector.
Nanning, being the closest Chinese provincial capital to ASEAN countries and the permanent host city of the China-ASEAN Expo, serves as a key gateway for fostering openness and strengthening cooperation between China and ASEAN nations. The city serves as a bridge for cultural exchange and collaboration, further strengthening the partnership between China and ASEAN in various fields, including education.
