For Kinderland, 2020 marks 25 years of educating and nurturing children in Indonesia. The journey began in 1995 with our Indonesia partner, Dr and Mrs Suparno, who set up the first Kinderland centre in Jakarta. Since Kinderland’s humble beginnings of one centre in Jakarta, the brand has grown into 10 centres across Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya and Bandung.
Kinderland has since trained over 110 teachers and educated thousands of graduates over the years. Currently, Kinderland has more than 1000 students in its Indonesia network.
The Singapore preschool brand was established with a mission to provide quality education in the region, for children below the age of six. As such, Kinderland has constantly innovated and reinvented itself. The Kinderland curriculum is continuously enhanced through research and development, and teachers are equipped with the best pedagogies. In 2018, Kinderland introduced to our Indonesia network of preschools, Writing to Read, a computer-aided creative writing programme developed by American educator, Dr. John Henry Martin. The programme focuses on comprehension and composition for children who are non-native English speakers. More recently, the school has begun to introduce coding, robotics and S.T.R.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Reading and wRiting, Engineering, Art and Math) to its programme offering.
Its unique Children Music Programme has built a strong foundation and interest in music in its graduates. This has led to some further pursuing music as a profession when they grew up.
Beyond providing educational solutions, Kinderland has also built an amiable relationship with the Indonesian society through charity initiatives. In 2004 and 2018, Kinderland (Singapore) raised funds of over Rp 280 million to help the Indonesians affected by the Sumatra Tsunami and Sulawesi Earthquake.
Even as Kinderland Indonesia celebrates the silver jubilee, Kinderland continues to gain momentum. We will continue to educate more children in the cities across Indonesia. In addition, Kinderland plans to further invest in research and development in our curriculum and upskill all Kinderland teachers.
